Money Camp

Tech is an industry that is moving fast. However, when it comes to diversity, it has been slow moving. The latest diversity reports from Twitter, Google and Facebook say that less than 5 percent of the companies' tech workers identify as black. In Silicon Valley as a whole, blacks and Hispanics make up between 3 percent and 6 percent of workers, and women of color are 1 percent or less. It is important to expose minority children to tech-based jobs at a young age. The Money Camp will be a four-session program spread across three months, that will expose high school students to investing principles. Money Camp is sponsored by Fintech in Action and held in partnership with the Urban League Young Professionals from Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston and New York. Money Camp will include 4-session investment workshop where we will walk students through the fundamentals of investment, give students access to a mock trading platform, connect students to investments professionals and mentors, and give a generational wealth building curriculum and a network of students across the nation.
